DlgDirSelectComboBoxEx
The DlgDirSelectComboBoxEx function retrieves the current selection from a combo box filled by using the DlgDirListComboBox function. The selection is interpreted as a drive letter, a file, or a
directory name.
BOOL DlgDirSelectComboBoxEx(
HWND hDlg,
| // handle to dialog box with list box
| LPTSTR lpString,
| // pointer to buffer for path string
| int nCount,
| // number of characters in path string
| int nIDComboBox
| // identifier of combo box
| );
|
|
Parameters
hDlg
Identifies the dialog box that contains the combo box.
lpString
Points to the buffer that is to receive the selected path.
nCount
Specifies the length, in characters, of the buffer pointed to by the lpString parameter.
nIDComboBox
Specifies the integer identifier of the combo box control in the dialog box.
Return Values
If the current selection is a directory name, the return value is nonzero.
If the current selection is not a directory name, the return value is zero. To
get extended error information, call GetLastError.
Remarks
If the current selection specifies a directory name or drive letter, the DlgDirSelectComboBoxEx function removes the enclosing square brackets (and hyphens for drive
letters) so the name or letter is ready to be inserted into a new path or filename. If
there is no selection, the contents of the buffer pointed to by lpString do not change.
The DlgDirSelectComboBox function does not allow more than one filename to be returned from a combo
box.
DlgDirSelectComboBoxEx sends CB_GETCURSEL and CB_GETLBTEXT messages to the combo box.
In the Win32 API, you can use this function with all three types of combo
boxes (CBS_SIMPLE, CBS_DROPDOWN, and CBS_DROPDOWNLIST).

Nostalgia .Net |
|
.Net is powerful, but not all-powerful, so sometimes we need to use Win32 API for our .Net applications. It's simple enough with Platform Invoke if you have Win32 skill, but we do not always have time to dig the ancient documentation, declare the special types that are compatible with Win32, find the values of the Win32's constants and so on. Nostalgia .Net offers several simple-to-use classes, and components that will allow you to forget about the headache of Win32 and just use the power of Win32 in your application the same way as you use the native.
